APRIL 2005 PRAYER FOCUS URGENT PRAYER REQUEST - LABRADOR |
|
|
Please keep the people of Labrador in your prayers as requested by Sr. Sabina Hunter We had another suicide attempt from Hopedale and even though it was not successful I imagine now the family will go through a rough and desperate time. May I ask that you pass on to your friends and church members the urgent need to pray for the young people in these communities: Nain, Hopedale, Makkovik, and even here in Goose Bay. Pray for the despair and loss they are feeling. They feel like orphans even though they have parents. They don’t love themselves, never mind trying to love someone else. They have no strength to stand. They are imprisoned in this world which they think is the only thing that is there just because that is all they see. I feel desperate to do something, yet this is all I could think of. Pray for the parents that they may come to see that what they do affects not only themselves but everyone. Pray for brothers and sisters who are lost because now they may feel abandoned by parents who will either grieve the loss of a suicide if successful or whether they will place their attention on the ones who don’t succeed and who will have to be taken care of. Pray for those who attend these people, Fillatres, Health Labrador, LIHC, social workers, hopefully politicians. May we all who are leaders of the church come to not minister to them with condemnation or judgment, but with the true love that is in us from Jesus Christ. May they feel love from us so that they may come to love themselves. Please pray. I ask this in Jesus’ Name. Lord God, God of all people, old and young and infants. God who created us in Your image. God who knows us inside and out, who knows our minds, bodies and spirits; may You reveal to us what we should do to help these young people. They feel like orphans even though they may have parents. They walk in wayward paths and stumble and feel fallen with no strength to stand. Their minds are not on love, not even love for themselves. How very much imprisoned are they of this world. Help them, God, to break free of their despair, hopelessness, and fear. May they come to know what You are when You are glorified through them, may they know Your Son Jesus; His life sacrificed for them; His love and blood poured out for them. Embrace them, Father, and be with them. In Jesus, we pray, our Christ and our Lord. Amen. |
