More Than 150 Youth Make “Mission Commitment” at CONVO 2005 Senior High Youth convo-erged on Calgary, Alberta, for a week of Bible Study and fellowship (July 1-7, 2005). They studied “Covenant History,” discovering how the covenant that God made with Abraham and Sarah was carried out in the history of the Israelites, and then brought to fulfillment in Jesus Christ. They learned that this new covenant may be lived out in the world today by God’s people! In this context, Rev. Sam Gray presented the youth with a challenge to be witnesses in their own Jerusalem’s, Judea’s, Samaria’s and to the ends of the earth. More than 150 young people came forward as a visible confirmation of their inner covenant with God to be open to God’s calling and direction in mission! Pray for these beautiful souls that God might do great things in them and through them! Regional Volunteer Coordinators’ Retreat, September 15-18, 2005 Five years ago the Board of World Mission of the North American Moravian Church established a ministry to train and prepare Short Term Volunteers for Kingdom service wherever our Lord would call them. At the center of this ministry are a group of volunteers known as Regional Volunteer Coordinators. These volunteers have accepted the call to serve in their districts to receive information on opportunities for short term service as well as to recruit, train and send out workers into the harvest. The RVC’s will be meeting in September in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to worship our Savior, pray, study and fellowship together in hopes that the Lord will bring them together as one. Please be in prayer for them as they seek His Kingdom and His Righteousness, that all these things might be added unto them! Short-Term Mission Update 2005 has been busy with a number of volunteers serving all over the world! It started in February thru April with crews serving in Ahuas, Honduras. These crews did everything from installing a new septic system, leading pastor retreats, building a new fuel storage building, using their skills as ultrasound and x-ray techs, photography… the list goes on. There have been volunteers serving in Bethel, Alaska, rebuilding a house for the new DCE there. At this time and in the near future there are crews working in St. Kitts, helping our sisters and brothers with building needs and a VBS for over 150 youth and adults. In all of this service, lives are being changed, faith is being restored and our Savior is being glorified! Do you hear God calling you to His service? There are many ways that you could serve Him and others by volunteering for short-term service. Answer the call! Mark Ebert |
