John H. Giesler PRAY EVERY DAY August 2005 |

|
1. Let us begin our prayer time this August for mission programs of our church. Our Moravian Pentecost was in 1727 and the first missionaries went out in 1732. 2. We can pray for the former mission fields where 90% of our church members now live. But we should pray for the outreach of our Churches at home as well. 3. Pray for friends who have lost loved ones recently. A kind thought and word may help overcome loneliness. Your concern can help! 4. As I write these words, wind and rain remind me that there are many in the Caribbean and the Gulf coast of the USA that are in harms way. Pray for those suffering from this summer’s hurricanes. 5. Cherokee Moravian Historical Association is a group working today to renew our bond that was once very strong with the Cherokee. We can pray for our many friends among them in Oklahoma. 6. Remember your Sunday school teacher and your pastor as they prepare to share the Gospel tomorrow. Show your concern by being there to hear their witness. 7. WORLD PEACE SUNDAY – Pray for peace! Be looking for persons who may visit your congregation today. Better still invite someone to go with you to worship. They may surprise you. Pray first. 8. Br. Will Sibert, the Executive Director of BWM is an active, energetic leader, who travels widely and brings many gifts to his work that are world wide! Pray for him regularly. 9. Sr. Judy Harke who is the director for the extensive Aids ministry for the BWM needs your prayer. This is a new mission for our Church. 10. Br. Sam Gray, brings his tri-lingual skills, musical talent and genuine love for people to his jobs. He lives in Winston-Salem, but travels often to help others. 11.Br. Mark Ebert, director of short term work crews, brings his business skills and dynamic faith to an expanding mission. Volunteer to go on a mission. 12. Srs. Lisa Mixon and Sheila Beaman are the assistants who see that all things get done in our BWM offices. Pray for all they do. 13. On this date, a Wednesday, in 1727, the people from Herrnhut were invited to Holy Communion, by the Lutheran Pastor in Berthelsdorf, and they went. Love exploded that day! Two Moravian churches, Newfoundland, PA and Clemmons, NC were founded in 1837 and 1900. 14. SUNDAY – We celebrate Communion or Lovefeast in most of our Churches. May the Holy Spirit shed love in our churches again in our time. 15. Let’s pray for our workers in North India. Br. Elijah Gergan is in charge of three churches in Leh (1885), in the capital, with a two schools of over 1400 students. 16. Br. Samson Thangpa is pastor of Khalatse (1899), 60 miles from Leh. He started a school in 2003. |
17. Br. Dechen Chamgha is pastor of Sheh (1963), a new congregation, 10 miles from Leh. These are the only Christian congregations in Ladakh, which is 300 miles across. 18. Br. Thsespal Kundan , is the head of a large Church, School and Institute for Tibetan exiles, at Rajpur at Dehra Dun in the NE part of India. 19. Br. Kaugachung Naga is head of a group of churches and school in Assam, the most eastern part of India. 20. Br. Nagendra Pradhan, newly ordained is in charge of the new outreach in Katmandu, Nepal. All of these men are ordained Moravian ministers. Pray for each one. 21. Sr. Rawda Marouf, of the Moravian Church Rehabilitation Center in Star Mountain, Ramallah, Palestine. She needs our prayers and visits. A group of pilgrims will be going in January. Contact Br. They have worked very hard during a very difficult time in Labrador. 24. Pray for Sr. Sabina Hunter as she assumes the leadership Chair for Labrador. She lives in Goose Bay, Labrador. Pray for her everyday for God’s wisdom. 25. Remember Sr. Brigitte Schloss, a retired ordained missionary who cares for the Inuet people who live in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
