December 2005 PRAYER FOCUS |
|
|
If you have ever read or studied the “Constitution of the Unitas Fratrum,” found in Part III of the Church Order, then you know that “the Unitas Fratrum consists of Provinces.” In fact, you have probably become aware of that fact in the Constitution. Phrases such as “the Southern Province” or “the Northern Province” or “the Alaska Province” are most likely not new to you. But do you know that there are four types of Provinces in the Unity? And do you know where they are? For our Prayer Focus this month we will focus on all four categories of the Moravian Church around the world.
Unity Provinces Czech Province (1457, renewed 1862) European Continental Province (1722) Eastern West Indies Province (1732) Suriname Province (1735) Southern Africa Province (1737, renewed 1792) Moravian Church in America, North ((1741) British Province (1742) Moravian Church in America, South (1753) Jamaican Province (1754) Nicaraguan Province (1849) Alaska Province (1885) Southern Tanzania Province (1891) Western Tanzania Province (1897) Honduran Province (1930) South Western Tanzania Province (1978) Rukwa Tanzania Province (1986) Pray that they would always recognize that the call to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the source of their being and the inspiration of their service (Ground Of The Unity, Part I, #1)
Affiliated Provinces Labrador Province (1771) Guyana Province (1878) Costa Rica Province (1980) Pray that they would “n’er forget their destination – why from this vain world redeemed!”

Mission Areas Moravian Church in Albania (1995) Moravian Church in Congo (1995) Moravian Church in Cottbus Eastern Germany (2005) Moravian Church in Eastern Tanzania and Zanzibar (cir. 2005) Moravian Church in French Guiana (1995) Moravian Garifuna Ministry (1995) Moravian Church in Latvia (2005) Moravian Church in Malawi (1995) Moravian Church in Northern Tanzania (2003) Moravian Church in South Asia (1995) Moravian Church in Zambia (1995) Pray that they would understand that they are truly “living stones” out of which the Lord will build His Church on earth (Ground Of The Unity, Part II, Chapter I, #54) and that they are members of the Body of Christ on earth (#55). Pray for God’s guidance in plans being pursued in Cuba and Peru! Sam Gray |
