ANSWERS TO THE PRAYERS OF CONCERNED PARENTS

Last month I included a short announcement about the concern of the parents for their son, a student at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Rev. Dr. Thsespal Kundan, and his wife Susan and their son, Shalomel received a good scholarship, and he has made a good start academically this year in his mechanical engineering studies, but the need for summer work presents a great strain for them on the modest salaries of a pastor. We received immediate replies from three people in three different states on the day they received ONWARD! Here is the reply of the Kundans on hearing the news.

“My wife and I are very grateful to you for mentioning our son Shalomel’s search for a summer internship in the last issue of ONWARD newsletter. And we were pleasantly surprised to know that already three people have responded. Thank you very much indeed. Shalomel is in the US on a foreign student visa. Immigration rules do not permit him to work outside Calvin College campus without due authorization the BCIS (the immigration authorities). We understand that such authorization is usually given for practical training (such as internship, which in Shalomel’s case would be in engineering).

 In exceptional cases authorization may be given for other jobs. Shalomel is making further enquiries with his International Student Advisor at Calvin College to get more detailed information. We would be much obliged if you and the friends who have offered to help could kindly wait a little while -Shalomel has more definite information. With many thanks once again.”

          There are more obstacles to overcome, but here is where all of us can help. While they work with the authorities, we can pray that God will open doors and help finish the work that needs to be done.
