John H. Giesler                         PRAY EVERY DAY                                  November 2005

1. This is the month of shorter days, falling leaves and colder temperatures for those in the Northern Hemisphere. The harvest is in, for which we are thankful, but for many on the Gulf of Mexico, there is the stark reality of loss.

2. We are proud of those who are sheltering evacuees, or helping to clean up and rebuild. Comfort the mourners.

3. We rejoice with those whose families are together and those who have a home to return to. Bless those who are able to pick up their lives and start over.

4. Be with those who are unable to return. Give them newness of life and new friendships and opportunities to make a new start elsewhere.

5. Be with our Sunday school teachers and leaders who are preparing to witness to the love of Jesus. Give our pastors boldness to preach Christ as their Savior.

6. SUNDAY – Praise the Lord with your congregation. Then worship with the Mission Society Lovefeast at Macedonia at 3pm. Dr. Rick Marx is guest speaker.

7. 1920 Little Church on the Lane, Charlotte, NC. The Moravian Church in Great Britain has five districts with 34 congregations, two outstations, 20 ordained ministers, 25 lay preachers, 25 retired pastors and 1,780 members. Pray this week for them.

9. 1980 Grace, Queens, NY. The smallest district is the Irish. There are five congregations and a fellowship. There is a settlement at Gracehill with a beautiful sanctuary. There is still a fellowship in Dublin, in the Irish Republic.

11. 1893, Fulp, Walnut Cove, NC. The Western district has eight churches and two societies.

12. 1909 Kellner, Wisconsin Rapids. The Yorkshire district is in the north with six churches and one society. The beautiful settlement of Fulneck has a very famous school with 600-700 students from all over the world.

13. SUNDAY 1741 Formal announcement of the Headship of the Lord Jesus Christ in His church on earth. 1771 Home, W-S, NC. 1893 Calvary, W-S, NC, 1965 Covenant, York, PA. 24. Thanksgiving -  1963, Peace (Park RD) Charlotte, NC. 1991 Christ the King, Durham, NC. Look out for someone you may know who is left out and invite them to your church or table.

25. 1852 Mt. Bethel, Cana,, VA. Today is the biggest shopping day of the year. Choose wisely in how you spend your money. A homemade gift may be much more appropriate and appreciated.

26. As you rake leaves and cut your grass for the last time this season, thank the Lord for the gift of the changing of seasons. Those in the tropics and the arctic areas have blessings in their ways, but we who live in the temperate zones have a wonderful variety that enriches our lives.

27. 1st SUNDAY of Advent. As we begin once again the themes of the Church Year, study the prophesies. This year look for promises you have not noticed before. Ask God to show you new insights that will make your Christmas more significant. “Once He came in blessing!”

28. The doctrinal text today gives us the reason for suffering. Anything that has afflicted you makes you more able to help others, and gives us insights into why Jesus left his heavenly throne to take upon himself all the problems his children have here. Thanks and praise to God!

29. 1896 Mayodan, NC. Think about your neighbors. Can you help them find answers to their problems? A warm greeting when you see them this morning may be what they need to make today a great day. Can you perceive a need they may have that you can help them meet?

30. 1746 Lancaster, PA. 1986 Prince of Peace, Miami, FL Christ’s return to earth is a cause for joy. A hymn in the British textbook today shows joy to us in the long range plans God has for all of us, through our Lord Jesus.

Wherefore, by God’s eternal purpose, Thou
Art high exalted o’er all creatures now;
And given the name to which all knees shall bow!
Hallelujah! Amen.
