PRAY Every Day February, 2003

Bishop Robert Iobst

1. In your 15 minute or longer time alone with the Lord Jesus today adore Him with songs and hymns you know by heart and also memorize more songs to praise Him.

2. THE LORD’S DAY - If you get to church early, pray for people as they come in. Br. Billy Flippin is to be consecrated a presbyter in Charlotte this afternoon.  Holy Spirit, give Billy additional spiritual blessings. Sam Gray, Miami, will be the speaker at the Mission Lovefeast at Kernersville at 3 pm.

3. In your times of prayer today read John’s Gospel chapter 1 and talk to the Lord Jesus Christ about it.  Behold the Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world.

4. On this date in 1770 the Friedberg “Society” was organized. Ask the Savior to fill Friedberg with His joy and power.

5. In addition to your other readings today, read John 3 and talk to Christ about His words therein.

6. There is a lot to talk about to the Master in John chapter 4; ask Him whether some of His words there may be a message to you.

7. Ask the Lord Jesus what He said about eternal life and about bread and other things in John’s long chapters 5 and 6. Sometimes just wait in silence before Him but keep your mind on Him.

8. Br. Hesdie Zammuel was elected chairmen of Suriname Moravian Province and Br. John Kent as a bishop. Pray for the people in the many Moravian churches this South American country.

9. SUNDAY.  Br.  Tripp May becomes a presbyter at Advent at 3 pm today.   Christ the King pastors Frank and Leslie Venable today fly to Chad, Central Africa, for mission service where Louis Sutton, MD leads a number of churches.  They’ll return on Feb.  25.

10. Dana Dawkins, Christ the King, now teaches missionaries’ children in Nairobi, Kenya; pray for her health and safety and language learning. New Hope Miami, 1991, celebrates its birthday today.

11. The Moravian Church on the island of Grand Cayman celebrated their 15th anniversary in September. Bless them! Br. Rene Henriquez, their pastor, helps with Moravian mission work in Cuba.

12. Covenant Moravian in Wilmington, NC, 1978, celebrates their birthday today.  Br. Jon Peterson is the pastor. How will you ask God to bless them?

 13. Today is birthday of New Hope Moravian Church in Newton, NC. Pray that the congregation will continue to experience spiritual depth.

14. Moravian Daily Text Book says on Fridays we should pray God to help our own congregation to be pure and zealous as they witness to the world.

15. While you read the newspaper, plead with God to bring peace on earth – also to protect you in mind and spirit.  Balance those words in the newspaper with words from Holy Scripture.  Pray for purity and innocence from evil and work for justice to bring peace.  16. SUNDAYDear God, help me to hold up to Thee things that are true, honorable, just, pure and lovely, if  there be any virtue, help me to think on these things I’ve learned from your written word.  Bring to my mind people who have these things in their lives.

17. Today let’s pray for Habitat for Humanity staff workers and volunteers serving Christ by building houses for needy people.

18. Pray for church members that you know as well as others to think of themselves as part of the world-wide army winning souls for the Master.

19. Dear Heavenly Father, pour into me the grace of our Lord abundantly along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. I Timothy 1:14. Help me to live gracefully.

20. Only half of our members come each week to worship. We sing “Like a mighty army moves the church of God.” Father, what do You think? I love Thee, dear God.  Fill me with some of Thy thoughts. Silently wait before Him.

21. Central Asia Fellowship asks for prayer for Christians who are spreading the Gospel in NepalInner Mongolia,  for workers  at Gaweylong Christian Radio station in India, and for Russian Christians who witness to various nationalities in their countries.

22. Pray for the Gideon Bible Societies in 175 countries as they distribute Bibles.

23. SUNDAY - What a privilege to worship God together.  Thanks be to God for liturgies and other prayers and for people’s testimonies. Sometimes, Father, the worship seems too short.  Glory to Thee!

24. In your prayer times this week talk to God about what He inspired Paul to write in First Timothy.

25. I urge…that requests, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for everyone. I Timothy 2:1.  Pray for Drs. Tim and Ann Schenz, members of Promise Moravian Church in Ohio serving Christ with Frontiers, a mission that plants churches among Muslim peoples. She is working for Urbana 2003.

26. We’ve a story to tell to the nations and also to folks next door.  Help me to plan my testimony and speak clearly.  Jesus said, This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the world…for all nations.

27. People who are lost need the Savior Jesus.  All have the need and the right to know. There is no other name under heaven…by which we can be saved. Acts 4:12.  Look at I Timothy 2:5 again and talk to God about this.

28. Pray for people in need, mentioning names to God if you can;  old, confused, fearful, sick, poor, homeless and the unemployed

[On Friday, November 29, 2002 Sr. Helen Stoufer Iobst was called home. Sr. Helen and Br. Bob Iobst spent 60 years serving the Lord together in Nicaragua and in several Moravian Churches in North Carolina. Their love for the Lord and their love of others was enhanced by their love for each other. We remember her faithfulness and her devotion. We extend to Br. Bob our condolences, but know his loss is great. God bless you as you bless others.                              JHG]
