The Final Word February, 2003

John H. Giesler

A new year has begun as we prepare the ONWARD for February. It is our hope that 2003 will be a blessing for all our readers and for the world. We have so many to thank for their contributions to this edition that we appreciate our friends. Br. Herbert Weber has offered a deep felt appreciation for the mission spirit of the Moravian Church in the past that expresses itself in our worldwide Unity today. Br. Ray Griggs again shares with us so much of their day to day efforts and we feel for them and commend them for their presence in Honduras.

Br. Bill Campbell has made a profound contribution by calling our province to a special stewardship in making health kits a great blessing around the world through CWS.

Br. Bob Iobst again calls us to prayer and awareness of the church around the world.

Br. Jack Geis shares his words that reflect his complete devotion to the work of the Lord in the Mission Society.

Sr. Dawn Eden shows her empathy for the life in the isolated villages in Labrador and shares her concern for their health with a unique program. One of the great tests for all leaders is to see their work continued successfully by those whose lives have been touched. Surely the work of the graduates of the Colegio Moravo is a marvelous witness, by teachers, support for them and a real concern for this school.

Br. Austin Melendez, who lives in the Toronto area made a plea to help out two village congregations on the Rio Coco in Nicaragua. They needed a bell, which serves so many purposes. We now have three bells offered and help to transport them. Next month we will give you a progress report.

We have talked about the Trail of Tears Tour for sometime, but we now feel it will be a reality on September 11-21, 2003. So far 42 persons have made deposits so there are only six seats left on the bus. Hurry if you want to go with us.

We also want to remind those who have a desire to visit the roots of our church to join us on the June 30-July 14, 2003. We have a wonderful group going, but we have room for more. If you have wanted to visit Herrnhut, or Prague and other exciting sites and meet wonderful people, join us. Ask me for a free brochure by e-mail, phone or letter. The estimated cost is $3300 for 15 days (d.o.) for almost all expenses. It is the trip of a lifetime!
