PRAY Every Day AUGUST, 2003

1. Prayer is the simplest form of speech that infant lips can try, prayer the sublimest strains that reach the Majesty on High. Praise God for letting you talk to Him.

2. Let’s pray today for Bob Rierson, Evangelism and Home Missions director, now retired, and for David Guthrie, new director, and their families.

3. SUNDAYPraise God from Whom all blessings flow. When you attend Church School and worship today, listen for the voice of God in the Scriptures, the hymns and liturgy and in the words of your teacher or pastor. Listen in your personal prayers as well.

4. Let’s pray today for Asian people now living in USA that they might meet loving Christians here and hear the Gospel and be given Bibles in their languages.

5. Pray for the Christian education of the young and that children may be led to give themselves to Jesus.  Pray for Provincial Elders meeting today, too.

6. Read Second Peter and talk to God about what He inspired to be written there.

7. Steve and Anne Marx to return today to Ecuador to continue serving the Lord with Mission Aviation Fellowship.  Well over 1,000 pilots, mechanics and support persons serve Christ with MAF in more than 32 countries. Pray for them often.  Consider joining them.

8. Spend some time today reading 2nd Corinthians 10.  Ask God to help you take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Pray this often.

9. The Southern Provincial Women’s Board meets at Bethabara 9am to 3pm.  Pray God will touch them and guide them.

10. SUNDAYWe’ve a story to tell to the nations that shall turn their hearts to the right, a story of truth and mercy, a story of peace and light.  Almighty God, help church to do this and invite persons to make decisions for Christ.

11. Jesus said to His disciples: Ye shall be witnesses unto me . . .unto the uttermost parts of the earth. How, Lord, may I do that?

12. Pray for Educational Services International teaching English and other subjects and witnesses for Christ in over 50 locations around the world. www.teachoverseas.org.

13. Pray God will pour out the Holy Spirit upon Moravians throughout the world as He did August 13, 1727.  Pray for churches with birthdays today: Clemmons (1900) and Union Cross (1893).

14. Second group of New Philadelphia volunteers going to Camp Hope in Jamaica, Evon Crooks, leader. Lord, inspire them to tell what Jesus has done for them.  Bless the work of their hands, too.

15. Southern Moravian Mission Society directors meet today at Ardmore, Jack Geis, president and Frank Venable, vice president. Lord, guide them in each decision.
16. Today pray for Rev. Lillie Brown and the Palo Alto Moravian Fellowship in San José, California and Sr. Ginger Kullman and the San Diego Fellowship in Escondido, California.

17. Moravians used to celebrate this date as Little Girls Covenant day.  Pray for the persons sitting around you

in church today.  Include names of pastor and choir members in your silent prayers too.

18. Pray for the Sarasota, Florida, Fellowship,  Br. Braulio Nicasio, leader; and the Tampa Fellowship, Br. Federico Velasquez, leader.

19. Pray for missionaries serving the Savior with Youth with a Mission among people in 110 countries. www.ywam.org.

20. Let’s pray for people in need; poor, homeless, old, handicapped, with special needs and for victims of famine, oppression, aggression and war.

21. Departure of the First Moravian missionaries. They went to St. Thomas, 1732. Pray for Moravians in the Caribbean area; St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix, St. Kitts, Antigua, Barbados, Tobago, Trinidad, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and Corn Island. Lord, make them energetic soul-winners for Thee.

22. Pray for men attending Promise Keepers Conference in Raleigh today and tomorrow.  And for the Young Adult weekend at Laurel Ridge. Holy Spirit, inspire them.

23. Father, what could we do today that would prepare us for church worship and Sunday school tomorrow?

24. SUNDAY - While worshipping in church today, pray for the people of Iran and Iraq; there are some Christians in both countries but life is hard for them.

25. Today pray for the Seattle Moravian Fellowship and leaders Br. Richard and Sr. Joan Thomas, and Sr. Maxine Nienow Simmons.

26. For churches with birthdays: Promise Church in Lewis Center, Ohio (2001) and Hope Church in Winston-Salem (August 26, 1780).

27. Hourly Intercession (24 hours a day) began 1727. It lasted for 100 years in many Moravian Churches around the world. Let’s pray about prayer meetings in our churches now. There is power and blessing in prayer.

28. Let’s pray for The Rev. and Mrs. Samuel Downs who are returning to Tanzania soon. Br. Sam is on the faculty of the Moravian Bible Institute in Mbeya, He was born in Honduras, served in Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, where he keeps his citizenship and has served the Moravian Church in Tanzania. That is a missionary! His grandfather was the first ordained Miskito pastor.

29. Pray for Moravian Regional Leaders in their areas: Br. Jørgen Boytler in Christiansfeld, Denmark, and Henk Esajas in Zeist, Holland and Br. Volker Schulz in Switzerland.

30. Let’s pray for The witness of Christians – that all who confess the name of Christ may grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. (from Daily Textbook).

31. SUNDAY – Pray for the approximately one half million refugees from Somalia who are in Kenya and are afraid to go home because Somalia is probably the most lawless country in the world – (Global Prayer Digest).
