PRAY FOR ALASKA

Isaac Amik and the Alaska Provincial Board.  Pray that they will provide leadership in the province that helps the churches confront problems, makes disciples, and changes lives.  Pray that they will make Godly decisions in the deployment of lay pastors.  Pray for them as they search for a Provincial Director of Christian Education.

The Alaska Moravian Seminary Board.  Pray for them as they search for a professor to teach prospective Lay Pastors during the next academic year.  Pray that they will chart a course for the future that will lay a foundation for the training of native lay pastors.  Pray for the school's newest graduate, Harry Nicholai, as he prepares to go forth into ministry.

The Elders of the Churches in the Alaska Province.  Pray that they might become open to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in their midst, and open to change as God leads them in responding to the needs of their villages.  Pray that they will address the difficult problems facing their people, and that they will discover a new openness to reaching their youth.

The Pastors of the Churches in the Alaska Province.  Pray that they might provide strong Godly leadership in their villages, leading people to new relationships with Christ.  Pray that they will go beyond fulfilling the office of pastor, and discover the joy of their personal faith.  Pray that they will dare to equip the laity for ministry as they discover the full meaning of the "Body of Christ."

The youth of the native villages.  Pray that hopelessness and despair might be replaced with the fire of Christ in their lives.  Pray that the scourge of suicides might come to an end.  Pray that they will have a future that fulfills God's plan for their lives.  And pray that they will bring new life into the church.

The native families.  Pray that they will battle the depression, suicide, sexual abuse, and alcoholism that is so prevalent.  Pray that they will turn to Christ for strength to balance cultural tensions.  Pray that they will nurture and care for their children and spouses, loving them as Christ loves the church.

The Anchorage Moravian Church and Pastor William Nicholson.  Pray that this newest church in the province grows, thrives, and successfully reaches new people for Christ. 

The Bethel Moravian Church and Co-Pastor's Grant Shimanek and David Nanalook.  Pray that as the largest church of the province that they will bridge the cultural divide and successfully reach Bethel for Christ.  Pray that they will discover the joy of fellowship, the meaning of service, and become a model for growth through Christ.

A Youth Camp can be established for the Alaska Province.  Pray that provincial leaders will recognize the need for an active youth ministry and be open to this initiative.  Pray for Jeff Littrell as he seeks to found a camping ministry that will ultimately be led and staffed by native Eskimos.

The ongoing translation projects  which will enable native Yup'ik Eskimos to read the entire Bible in their own language.  Pray that they will be transformed by the Word of God.              Rev. Jeff Littrell
