1. NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER – Thou Lord of Nations, unto Thee our country we commend; be Thou her Refuge and her Trust, her everlasting Friend. Spend time with God today in prayer. 2. Jeremiah 33:3 – God said Call to me and I will answer. About 30,000 immigrants from Somalia live in Minnesota. Pray for them. Ask God to give peace, understanding and protection amidst spiritual warfare to Christians and Moslems. Pray for the million plus Hindus who live in North America. 3. Birthday of Rural Hall Moravian Church (1931). The pastor is Jim Newsome with wife, Holly. Pray God to guide persons who compose our Moravian Daily Text Book that began in 1731. 4. SUNDAY – Single Sisters Covenant Day. All this day, dear God, help me to do things that please Thee. 5. Let’s pray for people in 2 churches having birthdays today: Fairview (1895) and St. Phillips (1822). In addition to your regular readings, read one chapter of 1st Peter each day this week and talk to God about it. 6. NURSES DAY – More than 200 languages are spoken by people in the U.S. Heavenly Father, lead me to learn other languages so I can tell people about the forgiveness and salvation Jesus offers. “From one man God made every nation of men.” Acts 17:26 7. Robert and Anne Thiessen today return to Mexico to continue to show Mixtec Indians to start churches. How many missionaries’ names do you know? Put names on your refrigerator door as prayer reminders. 8. Today let’s pray for Ray and Laurie Griggs teaching people about economic development and witnessing for Christ in Honduras. The Unity of Brethren (Czech Brethren) is helping them with finances and prayer. 9. Amidst your prayers today ask God to give to our Moravian missionaries to Asia a smooth transition to a new charitable organization called Compassionate Heart International. 10. Pray for your church and denomination; may she one in doctrine be, one in truth and charity, winning all to faith in Thee. Read again the Moravian Catechism. Does your church have copies for sale? 11. SUNDAY – Mother’s Day. Pray for mothers, young and old, in your church and around the world. Mention things to God you’d like Him to do for them. 12. Adore God. Thank God. Confess sins to God. Accept His forgiveness. Praise God. He is inspiring people in Estonia , Latvia and Albania, once crushed by communism, to start church groups. 13. Again praise God for drawing many people to Himself in Congo, Africa; more than 16,000 Moravians are there. Read one chapter of 2nd Peter each day this week and talk to God about it. 14. Ask God often to guide and bless Br. Sam Propsom teaching Labrador people to be church leaders. |
15. Pray that workers who are no longer with the Moravian mission board may continue to be used by God to save souls among unreached peoples. 16. We’ve been asked by Sonna and Linda to pray for a Christian friend witnessing for Jesus among Chinese and Tibetans living in New England. 17. Pray for the armed forces of your country and for the chaplains who bring people into a relationship with Christ Jesus. 18. MORAVIAN MUSIC SUNDAY – Thank God for music that brings us closer to Him. At home, too, often use hymns in your daily prayer time. 19. Pray for Michael and Caroline Woo, seeking finances and making preparations to leave in July for four years of mission work in East Asia,. 20. Today let’s pray for Charity Johnson (New Philadelphia). She plans to leave in August to serve Jesus with Campus Crusade in East Asia. Over 22,000 workers serve in 186 countries with Campus Crusade. 21. The children of the world desperately need our prayers. Approximately four billion will be born between 2000 and 2025, 90% in poor countries. (Operation World) Pray for children near you. 22. Pray for Mohammed Wattara, who was raised in a Moslem family in Mali. He is a Christian and is in Winston-Salem studying church starting methods to use in his homeland. 23. Pray God will bless leaders who teach Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies and Cub Scouts. God uses the Scout organizations to bless many people. 24. Today is Macedonia Moravian Church’s birthday (1856). Pray for them and give them new visions. 25. SUNDAY - When you don’t know what to say to God, borrow words from someone else and verses from Psalms and hymns. Today pray God will make it easy for you to speak about Jesus to others. 26. Pray for foreign students in our country. 89% of the leaders of Moslem countries today once attended schools in the USA. Remember the students and faculty of the Colegio Moravo in Bluefields, Nicaragua. 27. Pray for good health for Dora and Tony Bragg and children soon to return to Sudan, Africa. 28. Steve Marx and family, serving Christ with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Ecuador, are coming today for furlough in US. They will be available for speaking in your church. 29. ASCENSION DAY – Come back soon, Lord Jesus. Pray for the Moravian Clinic in Managua, Nicaragua serving hundreds of poor people there. 30. Today pray for Br. Elijah Gergan, leader of Moravians in Ladakh, India, and for Br. Thespal Kundan in the Rajpur area of India. 31. Pray for Br. Tulinagwe Mbangulla, general secretary of the four large Moravian provinces in Tanzania.
