The Final Word MAY, 2003

John H. Giesler

We are so happy that the Chiddies and their Ardmore SS Class were so successful at getting out the April issue of ONWARD. We are in good hands. It takes about 40 hours of work to get out each issue, so we know it is a big, but vital job. Thank you all!

We finally made our dream trip to Nicaragua and it was hard to limit it to one page, but we will be sharing more in the future. We appreciate the Ray Griggs family sharing their ministry and insights into the Church in Honduras. The internet piece by Br. Charlie Eichman touches the problems we have daily in our walk with the Lord and with each other. It touched my heart and hope it will help you. The sadness about war is there are casualties, and the Moravian Church now has a really sad one. The wife and four-month-old child are really in need of our prayers and support in the future. You may be able to help. Br. Jeff Littrell has begun what I hope will be a book. He has jumped with both feet from serving a big city Moravian Church in Charlotte, (Peace M.C.) into a Moravian town in Alaska, in a completely different culture. His struggles and triumphs of handling his tasks, mark an experience few of us ever have to make. This piece is a one day slice of his task.
There are sixty more like it, plus pictures and descriptions on his home page. What a life changing experience this is. He will never be the same after this! What a privilege he is giving us.

Br. Bob Iobst once again invites us into his worldwide view of the Church, and bids us pray about it. He stretches all of us to think about people and places far away, but just like our homes in America, with new neighbors arriving everyday. We include the picture of Dr. Sam and Sr. Grace receiving a small gesture of gratitude for a life of selfless service. They still continue to serve in many other ways. The Unity of Brethren Church in Texas shares the mission call we have to be faithful to the Great Commision, and their people share our concerns in many ways. Our hardworking President shares many of the concerns that he has over the complex program of our church in so many ways. This has been a difficult time for anyone to sort out the important decisions that affect so many people. Pray for Jack and his wife for wisdom.

The project to put ONWARD on the WWW is a very complicated and difficult decision. We do want to get the message of ONWARD out to more people. There are technical methods to do so and we hope we will be able to achieve that goal. Bear with is as we make our attempts. Br. Bill Rosenbaum, a member of the Bethabara Moravian Church, has been my support for all my needs in a medium where I have not training. His life long work in printing has grown with the spreading of these new technologies over the years. He not only has the answers I ask, but he knows all the options and methods that make these things possible.
