PRAY Every Day June, 2004

Bishop Robert Iobst

1. Pray to God your Father.  He made you for His pleasure.  Talk to Him.  Spend time with Him.  You are His.  Tell Him you love Him.  Everyday. Often. He loves you.  Count your blessings to Him.

2. Pray often for  the more than 261, 221 Moravians in Tanzania. Br. Musomba in Tanzania recently wrote “Many people would like to hear the Good News. Many would like to become ministers but lack finances.” Pray for them.

3. Pray for Moravian ministries meeting at 10:30 at Friedland and Christian Educators at 12:30.

4. Pray for Bishop Geoffrey Birtil’s family; he died recently. Pray too for the approximately 1,865 members of the 35 Moravian congregations in the United Kingdom – that God will use them to bring many lost souls to Christ Jesus.

5. Today is Willow Hill Moravian Church’s birthday (1898). The pastor is John Kapp, assisted by John Giesler. Include them in your prayers today.

6. TRINITY SUNDAY. Our day of rest and worship. Pray for outdoor ministries: camp, conferences, back yard neighborhood children’s Bible studies, etc., that you and other churches conduct.

7. Continue to pray for Moravians in the Czech Republic. Almighty God, inspire them to work together in harmony to save neglected people and their children for Christ.  They are working among gypsy people.

8. There are  24 Moravian churches with Winston-Salem  addresses.  See their names in the Moravian Daily Text Book.  Pray for each one today.

9.  Beside your other devotional reading, read a chapter of lst and 2nd Peter each day and talk to God about what He inspired Peter to write in these two precious letters.

10. Moravians in Tanzania want to start their own university. Pray God to help them with their plans and finances. 

11. Pray for  Br. Glenvil Gregory, the newly elected president, of the Eastern West Indies Moravian Province, a group of 50 congregations.

12. On this date in 1722 the first exiles  from Moravia came to Zinzendorf’s estate for refuge.  They were true to the faith and preferred exile rather than giving  up their beliefs. 

13. THE LORD’S DAY. I love your kingdom Lord, the place of Your abode, the church our blessed Redeemer saves with His own precious bloodLaurel Ridge Mission Camp #1 begins today.

14. Sometimes read God’s word aloud and talk aloud about it to Him.  Memorize a verse today.  Talk to a friend or family member or child about the verse.  On this date in 1777 the first Moravian missionaries arrived on St. Kitts, West Indies.

15. Pray for Br. Doug Norwood and Broken Jars Mission doing new mission work among English speaking Hindu people from Guyana who live in poor areas of cities in Venezuela.

16. The Synod of the Eastern District of the Northern Province begins meeting today in Bethlehem. Pray God to fill them with the Holy Spirit.

17. On this date in 1722 refugees from Moravia began building their first house in Herrnhut, Germany.  Pray for the men attending Promise Keepers’ meetings starting tomorrow in Greensboro.

18. Pray about needless perplexity today. Worry is like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do but gets you nowhere. Tell God what you  fear, you love Him and need help. Sing or read a few hymns to Him.

19. Today is  the birthday of Hopewell Moravian Church (1932).  Pray God will give Hopewell members a passion to win souls for Christ.  Bless their pastor, Br. Jeff Carter.

20. Your day to worship God with your whole congregation. Glory! Laurel Ridge Mission Camp #2 begins; they will help poor people in nearby mountain areas.  First missionaries arrived in Alaska on this date (1884). Pray for them today.

21. Often this week say to the Lord these precious words: Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me: and O thou Lamb of God, Who takest away the sin of the world, give unto me Thy peace.

22. Today is Advent Church’s birthday (1924). Bless their 300 members and pastor, Br. Tripp May.

23. 1st Timothy warns us about lying spirits and false teachings.  Ask God to protect your eyes and mind from Satan’s attractive temptations.  Father, help me to do what honors you no matter what it costs.

24. Today is  Little Boys Covenant Day. Pray for as many little boys as you can name.

25. Pray for legislators and both appointed and elected  judges.  Continue reading one chapter each day of 1st and 2nd Peter, talking to God about it.

26. Let us remember in prayer all the congregational coordinators of Gemeinschaft as preparations are made for the coming year: Judy Knopf is the provincial coordinator.

27. O DAY OF REST AND GLADNESSMay the grace of Christ our Savior and the Father’s boundless love with the Holy Spirit’s favor rest upon us from above.  Also, Laurel Ridge Mission Camp #3 begins today.

28. Pray for people of Cape Town, South Africa recovering from a recent hurricane.  There are about 100,000 members of 80 congregations in the province. Angelene Swart is the president of the P.E.C.

. St. Peter’s Day. Today is Ardmore Moravian Church’s birthday (1924).  Pray for them and their pastor, Br. Kevin Frack, and associate pastor, Br. Enrique Alcantara.

30. Lord, Your body ne’er forsake; ne’er your congregation leave; we in You our refuge take…every other help be gone, You are our support alone, for on Your supreme commands all the universe depends.
