Dear Sisters and Brothers, I greet you in the name of our Chief Elder Jesus Christ. To you all Happy New Year of 2004. At this time while we are happy for this New Year, we are thankful to the Lord for his mercy to us at this time. Our blessings are shadowed by many things happening in this world, many people have died due to accidents and due to shooting of innocent people, also terrorists are still carrying on their actions. But also many people are dying due to AIDS in our countries. With all these difficulties what will our church have to offer in these times? What is the message in our times as we see many people are desperate and confused? Due to crime that is also increasing in our countries, people are not looking to their homes as a secure place to be. If you have any things new and if some people see you bringing it in your home, you are not sure if at night they will not come to get those things out. One of our retired ministers, while he was still asleep, some people broke in his house and stole his TV screen and deck. When I talked to his friends, they said, better to have taken his things than his life. What is before us as our society is not sure of what is to come. I am posing more questions than answers. We have to work hard, everyone in his or her own situation. In the developing countries, we blame all those problems to poverty, but what about those in developed nations. The gospel message is needed so much in our times. Population wise, we have more non-Christians than Christians. The message which was given by Jesus to his disciples many years back is still valid even in our times. Who is to bring the Good News? This is the work of every member of our church. Let us go out as he said, Go into the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. We are called to put up programs for the evangelization and witnessing in all people about the power Jesus Christ has to change the world’s situation. Each Province has to come up with such programs from within their budgets. May the Lord awaken our minds and spirit to take this very seriously. May the Lord enable you all to carry his Great Commission. In His fellowship I remain Grace and Peace,
Angetile Yesaya Musomba (Rev.)
