The Great Commission

Matthew 28:18-20

With some follow-up instructions

Acts 1:8

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  Therefore go and make disciples of all peoples, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.Matt.28:18-20

(Jesus said) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8

WHAT is the task?       MAKE DISCIPLES

WHO is (are) the target audience? ALL PEOPLE (ALL

ETHNICITIES) (not necessarily geographical divisions)

HOW do we do this (make disciples)?

1.       BAPTIZE them (in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit).

2.       TEACH them (to obey all the things that he commanded us to do).

WHAT are our resources for the task?  HE HIMSELF is with us always even to the end of the age.

(Oh, yes, by the way, in order to do this we have to GO)

WHERE do we go?     Into ALL THE WORLD

Now, then, HOW exactly do we go into all the world?  Well, the way we go anywhere: ONE STEP AT A TIME.

Step 1:  Jerusalem (reach all ethnicities in the place

                  where we live.

Step 2: Judea (reach all ethnicities in the surrounding

                  county, district or province).

Step 3:  Samaria (reach out to some place we would

rather not go; reach people we would rather
                 not
reach out to).

Step 4:  the ends of the earth (clear enough, isn’t it?)

But wait,

HOW can HE be with us always, if HE ascended into heaven?

The HOLY SPIRIT is his presence and his power with us.

OK, WHY should we do all this?  Because HE has commanded us to, and all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him.

Anglican  Dean  Hails Moravians

By Harry Mayers

Why would the dean of Toronto, Canada feel it necessary to write a Moravian congregation in Christ church, Barbados, to say happy 40th anniversary?  Because he has a connection with them?  Yes. A very special connection.  And Dr. Douglas A. Stoute, the dean, recalled that linkage in his letter read during a thanksgiving service the Bethlehem congregation held on Aug. 15 to mark their 40th anniversary.

Members were very thrilled as Stoute, now stationed at the Cathedral Church of St. James, reflected on how his association with the Moravians began through Rev. Cuthbert Pilgrim when he was the minister of Mount Tabor, St. John.  “I was beginning my active journey of faith & I was invited to attend his Monday night bible study by David & Angela Bradley.”  Stoute said it was at the invitation of Pilgrim that he delivered his first sermon in a “house church” at the residence of the Williams family at Belle Haven.

The Bethlehem church at Maxwell grew out of those “house church” meetings & Stoute said, “It was from these beginnings that I was led to my vocation as a priest in the Anglican Church.  I owe Bethlehem & Mr. Pilgrim a deep sense of gratitude.” Bethlehem’s beginnings Aug.13, 1962, Congregational recognition as a Moravian Church: Aug.13, 1964

Pray for Dr Hoffman who arrived on June 6th from USA on a third visit to MCWT Province, Tanzania for 8 weeks. The purpose of the tour is the continuation effort of American Board of World Mission financial support to Moravian Church in HIV/AID Project Programme in an effort to slow down the spread of HIV infection in the country. Meanwhile, the Hoffmans are also executing their HIV/AIDS & Orphans activities from Sikonge Moravian Church Hospital. Please pray for their endurance.

We learned of the death of Bishop Adolph Ulrich, bishop of the Unity living in Prague, Czech Republic. Bishop Ulrich has been the only bishop in that province for many years. Maria Ulrichove, Hornomecholupska 28, 102 00 Prague 10,  Czech Republic
