OCTOBER 2004 PRAYER FOCUS

Are You A Missionary?
 By Mark Ebert

What is a missionary?  What should he or she look like?  Do you go to school to be a missionary?  Close your eyes for just a minute and think of the person that first told you about the love God had for you.  Picture that person’s face and what they looked like.  Consider the place and the time.  Hold that image for a moment.

The story in the Bible about the man who had a legion of demons and lived among the tombs comes to mind.  No one could bind him, and he was naked and cut himself with stones.  What a wreck Satan had made of this man’s life.  Then a boat pulls up on the beach and out steps a person that has power to change this man’s life forever.  After Jesus healed him of the legion of demons,  he asked to go with Jesus but He told him no.  Instead, He told him to go and tell
his family how God had mercy on him.  The Bible tells us that he obeyed, and all that heard and saw what Jesus had done were amazed.

All of this happened because of a visit from the Savior.  Have you had a visit from the Savior?  Do you have scares  from the life that you once lived before God had mercy on you and healed you?  Then you have a story to tell of how God forgave your sin and gave you new life.  You are a missionary!

Go and share the Good News.  Jesus tells us in Acts 1:8 that we will receive power to do this, and we will be His witnesses first, right where we are, then a little farther, and then even to the ends of the earth.  My prayer is if you haven’t already begun to share the Good News that you will go and tell your family how much the Lord has done for you.  Then, go and tell the people at work, school, and even at church so the world might know just how good our Savior is!

Oh yes, the person I had you think about was your missionary!

Please Pray…

v     That the church would return to the mission spirit we once knew

v     For existing Moravian missions, missionaries, and current mission interests in the world

v     For our partner provinces, that were once mission fields, but are now partners in mission

v     For all Moravian children, that they be nurtured with God’s spirit

v     For our youth, that they would receive a spirit of the Great Commission

v     For our new leadership in the Moravian Board of World Mission

v     For all retired missionaries that have served
