Summer Mission Activities and Events

Many Moravians are “going out into the world” this summer, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ

in many and varied ways.  Let’s hold them up in prayer!

Teams from Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Indiana, Maryland, North Carolina and North Dakota

are ministering in the Gulf Coast area with Moravian Disaster Response.

Youth and Adults from the Southern and Northern Provinces are participating in

Mission Camps at Laurel Ridge in North Carolina.

 

The Nain Experience Team

(The Rev. Joe Moore, Sayward Green, Rebecca Angstadt, Jessica Jonas, and Brad Wankewicz)

are working in the community of Nain, Labrador, for five weeks this summer,

to establish a youth program there to help the young people wrestle with teenage suicide.

Teresa Hanes from Home Church is doing the same with youth in Hopedale.

10 youth and youth leaders from Ardmore Moravian Church in North Carolina

are sharing their lives and the gospel with 40 young people at an

English Camp in Usti nad Orlici, Czech Republic.

 

A team of seven

(Joe Mixon, Thomas Baucom, Sarah Barnes, Nola Knouse, Mallie Graham, Steve Gray & Sam Gray)

are conducting music and worship workshops(technique, theory, composition, principles of worship planning, Moravian music heritage, etc.) at the Upasana School of Music and Worship in Kathmandu, Nepal.

7 Southern Province youth and adults are ministering in Mombasa, Kenya

 at Ray of Hope Orphanage working in their garden and setting up a preschool

 Adults and 10 youth from Clemmons Moravian are working in Bridgeton, NJ

 with Group Work Camps repairing homes for the elderly and disabled

Young Adult from New Philadelphia Moravian is teaching English at the

Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos Orphanage in Guatemala.

15 – 20 College Age Moravians will be coming together at a Youth in Mission Summitat Laurel RidgeLabor Day Weekend to participatein discerning and shaping the vision for mission that God has been giving to  young Moravians.

Mission Team from Central Moravian, Bethlehem, including Mia Mengel, Bill and Peg Hoffman, and Gordon and Mary Mowrer, working with HIV/Aids Outreach Project in Sikonge, Tanzania June 18-July 22. 2006.

Pray that God would use these many and varied gifts and ministries to bring many and varied people

into a relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior!
