This is indeed a very busy time. As we go to press we have three leading Moravians in the Southern Province who have passed away this week. Br. Joe Gray, State Senator Hamilton Horton, a member of Calvary, and just moments ago, Br. Herbert Weber. These three represent the best of our church. They have all been life time workers for the Lord and our church. We are so grateful to Br. Sam Gray, who provided so much for this issue, including the memoir for his father, the article about Aids in Honduras, the Neil Moree family, the Danish Mission Board and the Second Mile projects. We are indebted to Sr. Lahoma Good and Home church about their challenge. We are grateful to Caroline and Michael Woo whose article had to be shortened and then divided into three places. But we are so glad they are with us on furlough and want you to get to meet them. We thank Br. David Guthrie, Br. Mark Ebert and Sr. Sheila Beaman for the two page addition to Onward this month. There is another page of tools, but we did not have room to include it. Call Br. Mark for it. We received a copy of a letter from Br. Thsespal Kundan from N. India. It contains many details about their important work with Tibetan refugees in India. He tells about harassment from certain government workers about land they were given for the Institute years ago. Pray for them. It also tells about a wonderful addition to their staff of a highly trained and able family. We will include it next month. I just read a wonderful story about an American missionary serving in Kenya. You will be amazed at it as it appeared in the New York Times Magazine, Jan. 29, 2006 issue. You can find it in your library or on line. It is very up to date, and has many similarities to our work next door in Tanzania. I am amazed that the NY Times would print such news about a Christian missionary! It is very well written. Work of the Cherokee Moravian Historical Association continues. Some exciting publications will be coming out soon. We will be hearing from the head of the Vann House Historical site in Georgia this weekend. I urge you to join and enjoy learning about missions from a century ago that still affect us today. E-mail me for details. We are planning for another Trail of Tears Tour – Sept.14-24, 2006. We hope many folks will be able to travel with us. I will be glad to supply details. We were thrilled to be able to attend the Trail of Tears Convocation in November in Chattanooga. All the best. |
