PRAY Every Day JULY, 2006
John H. Giesler

Pray for each church event and the people involved!

1. Continue to pray everyday for Labrador. This is a month that we as Americans can thank the Lord for the freedoms we enjoy, that were bought at a great price. Thank God for those who created the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

2. SUNDAY This is also the month we remember the contribution of John Hus who died for our freedom to worship in our own language. We are indebted to him for much we do in worship. Remember those in darkness.

3. Let us remember peoples around the world who do not have freedom. Let us pray for the victims. The people in Afghanistan are harshly controlled by militants who do not follow the teachings of Islam. They use Sharia law that came later and are very harsh. They need our help.

4. For we who live in the USA, this is the day we declared ourselves free. But it took a long time for our leaders to institute the freedoms we really needed. We still need to work for freedom.

5. The Sunni Muslims of Tajikistan are more influenced by superstion than the teachings of the Koran. Pray for the Muslims who care for what is right.

6. 1415 – Burning at the stake of John Hus, Bohemian martyr and forebear of the Unitas Fratrum. 1763 – New Dorp, Staten Island, NY. 1800 – Gnadenhutten, OH. Iran was a very progressive country until their revolution brought out evil practices that keep Iran looking backwards.

7. Kazakstan is another nation ruled by militants. But here the drugs they produce have captured the people. Then the immorality has brought HIV/Aids to many.

8. Chechnya has suffered much from the Russians. They are perplexed by the hatred between Sunni and Sufi leaders. Drugs are an escape and HIV/Aids are rampant.

9. SUNDAY Paul reminds us My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness. We do not have to dominate the world, but we need to show the world justice.

10. There are very religious Muslim women in Kashmir who are trying to make a better Kashmir. Their efforts are thwarted by zealous militants. Pray for these women.

12. Laos has good laws against the sex traffic. But the government allows young girls to be sold into prostitution in Thailand, Myanmar and China. Christians oppose it, but their voices are not heard.

13. The Buddhists are very weak in Myanmar, so the Army has become the evil force. They have an army of 1/2 million, mostly children. They violently misuse them.

14. 1912 – Trinity, W-S, NC. Cambodia is a step up economically on its neighbors. But its young girls are sold to its neighbors. American pedophiles come to traffic with boys. They are welcome for their money.

15. Thailand is wealthy and is the place in which most countries sell their children. Tourists from Europe and America flock to take advantage of open sex. There are over two million prostitutes and the HIV/Aids are the result. So much good is polluted by so much bad.

16. SUNDAY How we worship is important. It must be authentic and sincere. But how we live is the test of whether we are in Christ and if we love one another.

17. 1955 – Grace, Center Valley, PA. 1927 – Crooked Oak, Cana, VA. These countries in Asia represent a large portion of the people of the world. It is difficult to reach out to them but they can be won by love and sharing.

18. There are Christians in England who are trying to stop the flow of young girls into their country. But too many wealthy men and corrupt officials benefit from this.

19. The Turkish people are flooding Europe and Great Britain, just as Hispanics are in America. It is much easier to be vigilant about illegals before they arrive, but it is difficult to see justice after they are here. Give us insight to deal with these people.

20. The Disciples had little interest in the Gentiles until after Pentecost. Many Moravians have little interest in outsiders. We had a Pentecost experience in 1727. Perhaps we need another Pentecost in our time.

21. Father, give us a Shepherd’s heart. Remind us each day that you want us to reach out to the lost sheep, and those in need. Fill our hearts with your love to share with others today.

22. The Southern Province Synod has been called a “mission synod”. Help us to have eyes to see the other sheep, whether in India or Mississippi. They could be our neighbor.

23. SUNDAY Paul tells us we are no longer strangers and aliens. Give us the fortitude to share that with those who are different from us.

24. We are grateful that the call process worked to bring the Steve Craver family to Rural Hall. (We are members there).

25. Bless the work at Edgeboro that is now forced to have three services on Sunday to hold those who attend. The church is too small to meet their needs.

26. 1846 – New Philadelphia, W-S, NC. 1896 – Heimtal, South Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Trinity (W-S) congregation has a very successful Community   Sunday evening good movie program to reach out.

27.  The campaign to help Camp Laurel Ridge upgrade its facilities recently got a generous gift from the Salem Congregation. That is the sign of a good investment in the youth of our church.

28. Pray for our new PEC in the Moravian Church South; Br. Wayne Burkette, (Pres.), Brn. Rick Sides and Lane Sapp, Srs. Donna Hurt and Kathy Sparks. May they lead us in mission.

29. Pray for our new Bishop, the Rev. Sam Gray. He brings us a big dose of mission and also gives us a bishop who can understand and can speak for us in Spanish, (among other tongues}.

30. 1747 – Emmaus, PA. SUNDAY Bless Br. David Guthrie in his complex work in BEHM and Evangelism. Bless Br. Rick Sides in his work in Christian Education.

31. 1752 – Arrival of first Moravian Missionaries in Labrador. Pray for Labrador!
