Thanks go out again to all who helped make this issue an exciting double issue. Br. Sam Gray was elected as a Bishop at our Synod in May, so has lots more on his plate. But he has given us not only helpful information but has given us very helpful insights in understanding how Resolutions #24 and #48 interpret each other. In his Prayer Focus-June he calls us to be aware of what is happening in Darfur. He gives Scriptural and moral ammunition to stop the killing. In his Prayer
Focus-July he gives us the methods that are underway to turning around the dilemma in Labrador. What Good News! These are answers to many prayers. Praise the Lord. I hope you find the two Pray Every Day columns helpful in your prayer life. This is a bigger job than I realized. Thanks to those who did this in the past.

We were very impressed with the wonderful spirit we found at Synod. Most of us were concerned with fall out from all the divisive events of the past few years. But in the free time, at the delicious meals, in the plenary sessions and especially in the committees there was a feeling of close fellowship, a keen sense of where our Synod wanted to go and the desire to leave behind the petty issues of the past. This attitude gave us a real interest to do the Lord’s work and not push our pet projects and object to what others wanted. We wanted to do what is right! We wanted to do what needed to be done. We wanted to be the Church of Jesus. So we agreed it was truly a “mission synod”. We appreciate what the past PEC had done in spite of many problems that fell in their lap. We know how hard Br. Sawyer had worked to handle what needed to be done and what patience and forgiveness he has shown in difficult times. Thank you! Now we move on with His work. Bless our new PEC and Br. Burkette.

We want to make a request to all pastors and mission minded members. We want to have another Trail of Tears Tour September 14-24, 2006. We need to have at least 30 participants to rent the bus. We have about 15 now. Please speak to folks you feel might be interested. If you will e-mail or call me I will contact them. We feel the tour is educational, inspirational and exciting especially when we meet with 100 or so Cherokees who trace their spiritual heritage through the Moravian Mission. We have requested a 59 passenger bus, but only accept 46, so we have room to move about. Your help is very important to help keep up the fellowship we enjoy so much with them. Plus, the trip is a lot of fun. Thank you for your help!
