1. May is new month for us to unite in prayer for peace in a time of war. Help us to work for justice which is the key to peace. Begin by working for justice in your community. Who are facing discrimination in your town?

2. Last Sunday was Day of Prayer for Board of Evangelism & Home Mission. The work they do involves Sunnyside, Latino work, and disaster relief with the BWM. Pray for these missions.

3. 1728 Beginning of Losungen (Daily Texts) in Herrnhut,Germany. 1931 Rural Hall, NC. We should always be on the side of efforts to promote friendship between people. There is too much that divides us.

4. The BEHM also plans evangelism, new church development, Older Adult ministry and the Prison ministry. Pray for these ministries and work with them.

5. 1822 St. Philip’s, WS,NC. 1895 Fairview,WS, NC. We must desire to make every effort to offer to the world real hope for justice, peace and good will.

6. 1860 West Side, Bethlehem, PA. 1895 Bruderheim, AL, Can. We will continue to speak out for those who have no voice or little influence.

7. SUNDAY – On the Lord’s Day let us pray for our Mission Awareness Day. It will be at Friedberg, long a mission minded congregation. Pray for Chris Giesler and Loren Jendro who are traveling to Labrador today.

8. They are setting up a summer program for youth to help bring purpose and hope to these young people who are having much difficulty handling life in the Arctic.

9. Pray for those who come from a different heritage and help us defend their rights to live in their own culture and work out their dreams and ideals for family and business enterprise.

10. Seek the peace of the places where we dwell, and cause us to share our gifts and rewards with those who have less than we do.

11. Violence and terrorism are incompatible with authentic Christianity. But that does not allow us to isolate ourselves from the world where they exist. We do not need to have war but we must eliminate the causes.

12. 1727 Unanimous adoption of Brotherly Agreement, Herrnhut, 1st step toward renewal of Unitas Fratrum. These principles are key to better families, neighborhoods, cities and countries. This day is celebrated around the Moravian world. Pray for our church.

13. The Oklahoma Oaks Mission (formerly Moravian-now Lutheran) lost their leader due to a sudden death. May God help them to quickly find another leader. Pray for the family of Br. James Morrison.

14. SUNDAY – May your worship and study be blessed by God’s Spirit and inspire you to find God’s will for the rest of this week. Next week we will ask God again to take care of us.

15. Be with the new members of the PEC in the Southern Province.  They work very hard for us helping us to carry out the work Synod has asked us to do.

16. Life brings many difficult challenges to us. We often wish He would give us an easy road. But what we should   ask the Lord for, is His presence to be with us in our difficulties to help us handle what comes our way.

17. 1863 Palmyra, Cinnaminson, NJ. A large number (over 50) Moravians from all over the USA recently went to Israel. Because of the political situation they were unable to visit Star Mountain. Pray for those who serve the handicapped youth there.

18. 1902 Good Shepherd, Calgary AL, Can. Remember the director, Sr. Rawda Marouf Khouriya, who is responsible for managing a very difficult situation with danger every day from both sides.

19. 2002 New Beginnings, Huntersville, NC. Pray for Br. Volker Bach, assistant director at Star Mountain. He is from Europe, but learning many lessons everyday about living in a dangerous place like the West Bank.

20. Sr. Rawda likens it to living in a prison, as they are nearly surrounded with the wall recently erected by Israel. The school tries to serve all families with handicapped children, even those who cannot attend the school. Travel through check points is very difficult, if not impossible.

21. SUNDAY - Forgive one another of the sins of the past and present errors and acts of selfishness. Promote our efforts to overcome deeds of pride and prejudice.

22. 1966 Redeemer, Philadelphia, PA. 1983 Christ’s Community Church, Maple Grove, MN. How do you handle a situation where someone seems to be working against you? Retaliation only makes it worse. Christ tells us to do good to those who work against us.

23.The Gemeinschaft teams are getting organized for another year beginning in August. If you have never experienced it, try it! You will be glad if you do.

24. 1856 Macedonia, Advance, NC. 1878 Goshen, Durbin, ND. As we go to press the Red River of ND is approaching flood stage. Pray that God will protect them.

25. 1844 West Salem, IL 1986 Faith Church of the Nation’s Capital, Washington, DC. Pray for the people in most of Africa who are suffering from the terrible scourge of AIDS. Our Church is trying to help but the toll is more than we can handle. Pray for the families who suffer.

26. 1853 Ephraim, WI. 1963 Saratoga Union, WI. Our Church is also helping with orphanages for the children who have lost both parents to AIDS. The numbers of AIDS children is huge.

27. Pray for our country to be a caring country that can help the poorer countries. But help those countries to be more responsible to take care themselves.

28. SUNDAY – This is the day we remember the Ascension of Jesus. We remember that He is with the Father and we can pray directly to Him. What a blessing.

29. Work with the people in your church who are trying to help the poor, the elderly, the children, and the handicapped.

30. In a world that uses our best technology to promote destruction and death, we must reaffirm our support of the latest science to heal and enhance life for all.

31. As we share the love of Christ by word and action, may the power of our risen and ascended Lord bring salvation, hope and love to all those in need. Amen.
