A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT On November 5, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Mission Society is extending an open invitation to you and friends to join us in worship and celebration at our annual Mission Society Lovefeast at Olivet Moravian Church. This is a time to celebrate and share our mission activities. The band prelude will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the service begins at 3:00 p.m. The Rt. Rev. Sam Gray will deliver a message of encouragement for future mission endeavors. Come, and be inspired by the music by the Olivet choir and musicians. There will also be a special musical presentation by the members of the Nepal Music Team that traveled to Kathmandu this past summer to share their musical talents with the Nepalese people. At the conclusion of the service everyone is invited to the fellowship hall to view displays of some recent mission trips and celebrate with team members. The holding of lovefeast originated in the first gathering of Christians after Pentecost. The early believers met and broke bread together, thereby signifying their union and the celebration of love for each other and unity in evangelism. Please join us on November 5th, 2006 and continue on the same path that our early Moravians initiated on that memorable day on August 13 in Herrnhut. Our missionaries and mission teams believe in putting others first to do all the good we can, wherever we may be called, to serve as many as we can, with the help of the Lord. We strive to overcome selfishness and differences in order to serve our fellow-man. For this we invite you to celebrate with us. God’s blessing! Evon Crooks |
NEWEST MORAVIAN HYMN PRESENTED BY MORAMUS On Saturday, September 30th, the Moramus Chorale along with guest soloists and instrumentalists, presented a concert celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Moravian Music Foundation and the 30th Anniversary of the Moramus Chorale. The concert opened with the presentation of two important Moravian hymns: the oldest (Jan Hus’ Communion Hymn) and the newest (Christ Went To Calvary) the hymn composed by participants in the Music Workshop at the School of Music and Worship in Kathmandu, Nepal. Here is the text of this beautiful new Moravian hymn that reminds us of our worldwide unity.
Christ went to Calvary for me.
Jesus, my Lord, I come to you,
So bid us, Lord, your love to
share:
Lord, help us live this life
