not be deceived! 1 Corinthians 6:9

me? says the Lord. Malachi 1:6

glory forever and ever. 1 Timothy 1:17

Heavenly Father, it’s hard for us to face the brutal truth that we often
ignore you. We separate ourselves from you. We withhold our hearts from

Fourth Sunday after the Epiphany

Watchword for the Week - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of
wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. Psalm
111:10

Deuteronomy 18:15-20; Psalm 111
1 Corinthians 8:1-13; Mark 1:21-28

The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The

God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, power,

Join Friends of Laurel Ridge

Friends of Laurel Ridge is an auxiliary support group that provides opportunities for individuals and groups to support and enhance Laurel Ridge’s ministry through a stewardship commitment of time, talent, prayer, and money.
What do Friends do?

Provide an avenue for financially supporting the Laurel Ridge ministry
Identify and organize people who have needed skills and are willing to volunteer at Laurel Ridge
Form a network of people who serve as ambassadors for Laurel Ridge in their church and community
Continually remember Laurel Ridge in individual and group prayers
Financial donations from Friends play a critical role in the support and expansion of Laurel Ridge’s ministry. In 2009, Friends’ funds were used to purchase a new chairs for the Dining Room at Higgins Lodge as well as a 23 foot inflatable trampoline and water slide for the lake at Summer Camp. Friends’ donations were also used to construct the Friends’ Cottage, a retreat for families and couples that opened in the fall of 2009.

Our volunteers are the backbone of our camp programs in both summer camp and mission camp. Those who give their time to be deans, counselors, nurses, interest group leaders, or program support add creativity, expertise, encouragement and love. These contributions play a significant part in our programs.

Volunteers also give countless hours to construct new facilities, such as the Friends’ Cabin, as well as to improve existing facilities.

As always, Friends are ambassadors to our churches and throughout the province. They play a vital role in communicating with congregations about upcoming events and news at Laurel Ridge as well as recruiting campers, counselors, and rental groups.

Most importantly, Friends’ prayers help to discern and understand God’s will for the leaders, staff, volunteers, users, and future promise of this special place as we continue in this educational ministry of our province.

Join Friends of Laurel Ridge and be a part of our Future of Promise.

Hangar Completed for Alas de Socorro! Praise report!

News from the Board of World Mission
Hangar Completed for Alas de Socorro
Cessna in Hangar
Jan 27, 2012

Last October and December you helped support raising over $40,000 (including Board of World Mission grant), to build a new airplane hangar for George Goff’s mission. The team from North Carolina returned Tuesday, January 17. Here is their completed hangar with George’s airplane. All excess funds raised will be used for maintenance of the plane.
Brother George Goff’s mission in Honduras, Alas de Socorro or Wings of Mercy, provides medical air transportation to his native Miskito people who, otherwise, face a twelve hour or longer trip by canoe to the nearest clinic or hospital. In addition, he pilots visiting pastors, missionaries, medical teams and church workers to his native coastal lowlands of eastern Honduras. At his destinations, he often witnesses to villagers about the saving grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
